Parking Meters Now Contactless in Ventnor with ParkMobile App

Enjoy the ease of contactless parking meters in Ventnor with ParkMobile! ParkMobile allows visitors and residents to conveniently pay for and extend time at parking spots right from their mobile phones.

ParkMobile is available for both iPhone and Android devices, or can also be accessed on a mobile web browser via QR code or text message.

The app may be used in any area where there is metered parking. Some spots accept physical payment through the meter or payment through the app, while others require the app to be used (see listing below).

The app will be especially helpful for summer beach goers who won’t even have to leave the beach to add time to their parking spot. It has been adopted by several other beach towns in New Jersey, including Atlantic City, Ocean City, Wildwood and more.

How it Works:

  1. Register at, launch the mobile app on your Android, Windows or iPhone, or call the 1-800-280-4146 number posted on the meter. Registration will require a payment method to be stored such as: PayPal, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express or ParkMobile Wallet.
  2. Park in any of our marked ParkMobile enabled meters as indicated with green ParkMobile stickers and signs.
  3. Enter the zone number indicated on the meter, and space number, if applicable.
  4. Input your vehicle information and license plate number. If you already added the information, ensure that you have selected the correct vehicle.
  5. Select the amount of time needed and press the "Start Parking" button to begin the session.

*Users can extend the time of the parking session on their mobile device, without having to go back to the meter.

As noted above, ParkMobile is available for both iPhone and Android devices, or can also be accessed on a mobile web browser via QR code or text message.

For a listing of all metered spaces and spaces that only accept payment through the app, please refer to the list below.

Beach Replenishment Project Update

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and its awarded contractor Great Lakes Dredging, will begin a beach replenishment project stretching from Atlantic City through Longport.

Ventnor will be the first area started (end of September, early October), then the work will progress to Margate, Longport and lastly, Atlantic City.

Ventnor is scheduled to receive approximately 426,00 cubic yards of sand. The proposed beach nourishment area in Ventnor will extend from Harvard Avenue to Fredericksburg Avenue and will include dune repair with grass plantings, cross over repair and street end scupper excavation (for street drainage onto the back beach area). The contract also includes the reconstruction of the Suffolk Avenue beach access ramp in Ventnor.

The contractor will utilize a hopper dredge for the Ventnor, Margate and Longport portion of the project that will remove sand from an offshore borrow zone and transport the material to a submerged pipe closer to the shore where it will pump sand to the beach. The landing area for the submerged pipe will be near Philadelphia Avenue in Ventnor.

For more information on the project, and to see recent updates, please click here (see Construction Status Info).

Please contact the Ventnor Public Works Department if you have any additional questions.

Guarded Beaches Following Labor Day

The Ventnor City Beach Patrol will guard the following beaches after Labor Day. Please remember to swim only in front of a lifeguard stand!

The following beaches will be guarded from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day from September 8 through September 20 as well as Saturday, September 26 and Sunday, September 27:

Dorset, Lafayette, New Haven, and Suffolk Avenues.

July 4 Beach Concert and Mini Farmers Market Canceled

After much deliberation, the Ventnor Summer Beach Jam and Mini Farmers Market scheduled for this Saturday, July 4, have been canceled out of caution for our community's health and well-being. We look forward to safely enjoying music on the beach in the coming weeks and will keep you posted on when festivities will resume! Thank you for your understanding.

Beach BBQs Permitted July 4 Through Labor Day

Attention All Ventnor Residents and Visitors: The Mayor and Commissioners are pleased to announce that barbecuing on the beautiful beaches of Ventnor will be permitted EVERY DAY starting Saturday, July 4, through Labor Day, September 7, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Propane grills only (no propane tanks larger than 20 lbs.). Coals are difficult to dispose of safely at the beach, if you bury them, and they are still hot, someone can step on them and burn their feet. Putting them in the trash will start a fire.

Popup 10x10 tents are allowable, no tent should be enclosed by order of the Ventnor City Fire Department.

VCFD reminds you of these Grilling Safety Tips for Outdoor Cooking:

  • Do not place grill under or in enclosures.
  • Make sure grill is stable.
  • Keep your grill clean.
  •  Check for propane leaks on tank and grill.
  • If flame goes out wait to re-light.
  •  Take care around the grill.
  • Never leave your grill unattended.
  • Keep children at least 3 feet away from grills at all times.
  • Be ready to put out the fire, have baking soda on hand to control a grease fire, and a fire extinguisher to handle other fires. If you don’t have a fire extinguisher, keep a bucket of sand next to grill.
  • Never use water to put out grease fire!

Have a great summer, continue practicing social distancing and remember to wear your masks when appropriate!

Beach and Boardwalk Reopening Schedule

Boardwalk will open to pedestrian traffic on Friday, May 22. Beaches will open for swimming and sunbathing Saturday, May 23.

Beginning Friday, May 22 at sunrise, the Ventnor Boardwalk will be open to pedestrian traffic only (walking and running). No bike riding on the boardwalk (bike riding will begin a week later on May 29).

Pedestrians on the boardwalk should stay to the right side to maintain physical distancing. No dogs are allowed on the boardwalk at any time.

Beachgoers are expected to follow social distancing guidelines - staying 6-feet apart as much as possible. It’s critically important that everyone respects these guidelines and each other so that we all can enjoy Ventnor’s greatest natural asset. An increased Police presence this summer on the beach will enforce the 6 foot guideline.

Swimming at guarded beaches will be allowed Saturday, May 23rd at the normal four pre-season beaches including Headquarters Suffolk Ave, Dorset Ave, New Haven and Lafayette Avenues.

These four locations will have two stands each to spread out bathing area. Swimming will expand to all guarded beaches as the season progresses.  Ventnor Fire Department will add two Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) to the beach during the day that are trained in Covid-19 Response to assist the Ventnor Beach Patrol.

The City of Ventnor requires Beach Badges for the Beach from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

The Governors Guidelines for beaches that apply on May 23rd to Ventnor are:

  •  Extend social distancing to the beaches, ensuring that people stay six feet apart except for family groups, household members, caretakers or couples.
  • Facemasks are not required, but they are recommended.
  • Allow anyone on the beach, and not restrict it to just local residents.
  • Implement proper and regular sanitation rules.
  • Prohibit contact sports and organized events.
  • Prohibit beach summer camps and fireworks, festivals and concerts.
  • Open shower pavilions, changing areas and restrooms. Restrooms at parks can also reopen.

Surfing, Paddle Boarding, Singles Rowing and Kayaking Will be Permitted May 13

Beginning Wednesday, May 13, Surfing and paddle boarding will be allowed. Gathering in groups on the beach is not. Please change and prepare for surfing OFF the beach and boardwalk until those areas are reopened.

Singles rowing and singles kayaking will also be allowed May 13th, but doubles, quads and eights are not. ALL team sports are not yet allowed, and these fall under that category. The Viking Rowing Club's self-imposed guidelines include that use of ergs, weights and congregating at the boathouse is not permitted until further notice.
