Code Enforcement

Code Enforcement helps keep the community safe and clean by making sure properties follow local safety, housing and maintenance codes.

What We Handle:

  • Property maintenance
  • Safety issues
  • Zoning and housing standards
  • Overgrown yards
  • Trash/poorly maintained properties
  • Dog complaints
  • Paint issues
  • Neighbor related concerns
  • Storage issues
  • Fences, sheds, and other structure concerns.

Reporting a Concern:

You can report a possible code issue by phone, online or in-person. Please include property address, description of the concern, and any helpful details. Anonymous complaints are accepted, but they must involve issues visible from public areas.

If You Receive a Violation:

It will explain what needs to be corrected, the deadline for compliance, and how to contact code enforcement. Most issues can be resolved without fines if correct in a timely manner. If more time is needed, contact us. If issues are not corrected, a summons may be issued. Some repairs require a permit. You will be told what permits will be needed.

Questions regarding tickets be addressed by calling 609-823-7966 or go to www.njmdirect.com or scan the QR code.

Dumpsters:

Dumpsters require a permit no matter where parked. Please note, no dumpsters are allowed, at all, during summer months, June 15 through Labor Day.
