Clerk

The City Clerk serves as Secretary to the City Commissioners and is the custodian of the municipal seal, all minutes, ordinances, resolutions, contracts, deeds and archival records of the City. Dog, liquor, mercantile, taxi and raffle/bingo licenses and yard sale permits are issued by the Clerk. This office provides general information to the public.

Prepares Committee meeting agendas and records minutes of those meetings

Serves as Chief Registrar of Voters in City of Ventnor subject to the requirements of Title 19 of the Revised Statutes

Serves as Chief Administrative Officer in all elections held in City of Ventnor subject to Title 19 of the Revised Statutes

The office of the Municipal Clerk and Registrar is responsible for the storing and maintaining of all government records. The definition of a government record means any record that has been made, maintained or kept on file in the course of official business by either a public agency or an officer acting in his or her official capacity.

The duties of a Municipal Clerk are described as follows:

  • Serves as secretary to the governing body
  • Serves as secretary to the Municipal Corporation
  • Acts as Administrating Licensing Officer for the City of Ventnor
  • Serves as Administrator for all elections within Ventnor City
  • Serves as records coordinator and Manager

Commission Meetings

All meetings are conducted in compliance to the Public Open Meetings Act. Ventnor City Commission meetings and Workshops are held on the second and Fourth Thursdays on each month. Workshop and Commission Meetings begin at 5:30 pm, unless otherwise noticed. A workshop session is held first followed by a formal Commission Meeting in which action will be taken. 

VOTER REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Eligible voters must register to vote at least 29 days prior to an election. Registration forms may be obtained in the Ventnor City Municipal Clerk’s Office.
