The Office of Coastal Engineering Conducting Post-storm Assessments

The Office of Coastal Engineering will be conducting post-storm assessments of the State’s Beach and Dune areas and other Coastal Area beginning tomorrow, Friday (8/22/2025) – tomorrow’s assessment generally will be at select spots through most of the Atlantic facing municipalities.  These assessments will continue next week, on Monday (8/25) and possibly into Tuesday (8/26), where we will complete the remainder of the sites we assess in all areas.

 DEP staff, with state-issued IDs available and most in vehicles with State License Plates, will be taking measurements and photos to document the existing conditions of the beach and dune system and/or coastal areas at location(s) within your municipality.  Those not in state vehicles will be parking legally with placards in their windows and will have their state ID with them.
