Ventnor City OEM Notice on Hurricane Erin

This is an important message from the City of Ventnor Office of Emergency Management.

Due to the impending arrival of Hurricane Erin in our area, we are advising all residents and visitors to take the following precautions:

  •  Move vehicles to higher ground—especially in low-lying areas—due to expected high tides through Friday.
  •  Secure all outdoor items to prevent them from becoming dangerous projectiles in high winds.
  •  Check on your neighbors, particularly the elderly or those with special needs.
  •  Expect restricted access to Ventnor Heights due to potential flooding. Road closures on Wellington and Dorset Avenues are possible until waters recede.

If travel is necessary, please drive cautiously. Avoid creating wakes that may worsen flooding and damage to nearby homes and businesses.

Do NOT drive through flood waters. Do NOT drive around barricades. They are there for your safety. Remember: Turn around, don’t drown.

The beaches remain open, but the ocean is closed to swimming. Please check in with lifeguards on duty and obey posted beach warning flags.

We ask for your patience and respect toward first responders who are working to keep everyone safe.

For the latest updates, follow local news, our official social media pages, or the City’s website.

Thank you, and please stay safe.
