Public Safety Notice: Ocean Swimming and Bathing Prohibited

Due to the approach of Hurricane Erin off the New Jersey coast — and in consideration of recent water-related tragedies — the Ventnor City Beach Patrol is prohibiting all swimming and bathing until further notice.

We strongly advise against surfing and kayaking at this time. Any individuals who choose to engage in these activities are doing so at their own risk.

This decision was not made lightly. Our top priority is the safety of both our beachgoers and lifeguards.

Please note the following:

  • Lifeguards will remain on duty from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM daily.
  • They are under strict direction to prevent anyone from entering the ocean.
  • Swimming and bathing are prohibited both during and outside of patrol hours for your safety.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding during this time. This policy is in place to protect lives — yours and those of our dedicated lifeguards.
