Blizzard Warning - Important Weather Update

This is an important message from the City of Ventnor, Office of Emergency Management.  We are urging you to begin preparations in the anticipation of the blizzard and to remain indoors this weekend.
The impact of this storm in our area is going to have emergency responders extremely busy. Only essential personnel should be on the roadways. Please be patient with public works as they clear the roadways for emergency vehicles. Do not park vehicles on Atlantic Avenue, Ventnor Avenue or Dorset Avenue during a snow emergency.
All vehicles need to be removed by 8 p.m. in these areas Secure or remove all outside objects so they don’t become projectiles. Please keep a check for all updates on our social media pages and website.
Due to Winter Storm Kenan overnight and into Saturday we are advising the following:
• Our area will see blizzard conditions, strong winds, and tidal flooding, overnight through Saturday.
• Winds will be sustained 30-40 mph, gusts to 50 mph.
• Keep pets inside and check on senior citizens who can become chilled rapidly without realizing it.
• High winds can produce power outages or down power lines. We advise running your heat above your normal settings to warm your homes prior to going to bed in case you lose power to keep warm.
• High tides on Saturday are 4:34 am and 5:01 pm
Snow plowing operations will begin when snow accumulation reaches approximately 2” and priority during the snow event will be:
• Provide access for emergency response (Fire, EMS, and Police).
• Major arteries: Atlantic Ave, Ventnor Ave, Dorset Ave, Wellington Ave, Winchester Ave, Monmouth Ave, Lafayette Ave to Shalom House and Firehouse and Police Station.
• Local residential streets, cul-de-sacs, and dead-end streets.
Once snow fall ends, snow plowing operations will continue and priority will be:
• Major arteries – widening to curb (where possible): Atlantic Ave, Ventnor Ave, Dorset Ave, Wellington Ave, Winchester Ave, Monmouth Ave, Lafayette Ave to Shalom House and Firehouse and Police Station.
• Local residential streets – widening to curb (where possible): cul-de-sacs and dead end streets.
• Municipal Parking lots, Public Buildings, and grounds.
Thank you.
