New “Destructive” Severe Thunderstorm Warning Category to Trigger Wireless Emergency Alerts on Mobile Phones

The U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) is recategorizing storm threats in order to better convey the severity and potential impacts of storms. Beginning August 2, the most severe storms will be labeled as "Destructive" and will trigger an alert on your mobile phone in the event you will need to take immediate action.
