City Approves Police Contract, Adjusts Salary Guide

The police contract, which was ratified by the rank and file, increases the number of steps on the salary guide to 14. The previous number of steps had been seven. According to City Administrator Maria Mento, this means that it will take 14 years, instead of seven for an officer to reach the top salary.

The contract includes other measures which will save the city money on payroll and prevent future tax-rate increases.

For more information on the contract, see Nanette LoBiondo Galloway's article in The Current.
